Who am I?
 (If you figure that one out, let me know.)

I live in Boulder, Colorado. I have experience as a science educator, amateur photographer and astronomer, electronics techie, document editor, IT support drone, and spending time sitting on top of big rocks looking at things. I have a BA in Astronomy from the Astrophysical & Planetary Sciences department at the University of Colorado, as well as a few years of graduate school experience studying secondary-level science education.

My interests include offroad driving & camping, teaching, climbing and hiking, photography, vintage scooters, amateur electronics design, HAM radio, and spicy food.

I am obsessed with things like the "Battlestar Galactica" series, have seen ALL of the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" episodes at least a half dozen times, used to perform live as a cast member in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" as a teenager (!), will watch anything by Joss Whedon, and probably Ronald D. Moore.

I am also obsessed with my cat, and that's just how she wants it. This is her place, I just get to live here with her.

I am socially progressive, financially conservative, and prefer logic, reason, ethics and morality to dogma, utopianism and the profit motive when analyzing political and policy problems. I am a dyed-in-the-wool leftie who happens to own a few guns, be a defender of the 2nd ammendment (and the rest) and thinks that the inheritance and capital gains taxes should go away for selfish but justifiable reasons.

I am a (very minor) part-owner of a small-but-famous business of which I am very proud.

Other interesting notes:

  • I make really good, really hot vegetarian chili
  • I loathe cleaning floors, of any sort.
  • I am unmarried and without children, not for lack of trying over the years. As of this edit, my 40th is four days away, so this is unlikely to change.
  • I cannot juggle, but can read 20 books at once, and not forget what's going on in any of them.
  • There are more books in my house than anything else except for bacteria and old, dead pices of electronics.
  • I am a chronic procrastinator, and intend to procrastinate turning forty well into my fifties.
  • I also would really not mind having a prehensile tail, and/or gills. And maybe a neural 'net interface.
